Searching for venture ideas can sometimes be difficult, especially when you are considering making a large personal investment of your own time and money. There are many sources that can make suggestions to you and help get the ball rolling on new ideas. Often times people pick ventures that interest them personally. This can be good and bad. It can be a plus when the entrepreneur is both interested and knowledgable about the veture. It can be a negative when the entrepreneur is intersted but not knowledgable. This can create a huge problem. An ideal situation is when the person is both interested and knowledgable on the subject.
Opportunity recognition is also key. A good way to recognize a good opportunity is to identify a need or a lack in a certain are. Once you have identified this, you can come up with a way to fill this void. An entrepreneurial eye is key and can be developed over time.

I agree that the ideal situation is one in which the entrepreneur is both interested and knowledgeable on the subject. This can help in not only getting the venture started, but also helping it succeed. Also, not being interested in an venture idea may lead to a lack of concern or not much enthusiasm to be completely involved.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that an entrepreneurial eye is key and can definitely be developed over time. I think as this semester as progressed, I have been able to see where there are areas in which certain products are lacking or could be improved.
If I could dream and have those dreams come true, the products or services that I would like to see on the market place would have to do with faster and cheaper travel. While planes can get you anywhere in the world in a matter of hours, it is often a hassle to fly and tends to be on the expensive side. A cheap method of travel that could let people see the whole world would be great. I would open peoples eyes to how the rest of the world lives and give them experiences they would never forget.

ReplyDeleteLooking and seeking out new ideas is something that every Entrepreneur should do everyday otherswise, in my mind, they are not being the best that they can be for themselves and/or their loved ones. Oppurtunities are all around you, you just have to decide which one you want. If you do not decide now you may loose the chance. Or you may not be mature enough right now to even decide to take on a task. The way that I look for my oppurtunity is if it has to do with my interests, it affects the world in a positive way, and helps God I will do it. If it does not affect ALL of my reasons for doing a project I will not do it b/c all of my heart will not be in it. If my heart is hurting to do a task I will ask myself why am I hurting and what I can do to help. If I can't help I will get someone who can help and get them to fix the problem. Oppurtunities are their you just have to know when to pick and when to let go.
